What to Pack & Wear

Scotland and culinary journeys

When the journey revolves around the table, the market, or the glass, what you wear should support the experience - not distract from it.

How I Pack for Journeys
While Feeling at Home

Scotland and culinary journeys often mean long days on your feet, temperature swings between streets and dining rooms, and moments where you want to feel both comfortable and put together.

When travel revolves around food and drink, clothing should be adaptable, breathable, and quietly capable - not technical, not fussy, and never distracting.

Below is how I build a simple, flexible packing system for Scotland and culinary journeys.

The Everyday Layer:
City-Ready, Table-Ready

Wool & Prince

Refined merino pieces that transition effortlessly from walking city streets to sitting down for a great meal.

This is the layer I wear when I want to feel put together all day without thinking about it.

Merino Layers for
Women’s Scotland Travel

Wool&

While I personally wear Wool & Prince, my wife packs Wool& for our Scotland trips, and I’ve seen how well it performs in the same conditions.

Merino handles cool mornings, shifting wind, and evenings out without feeling bulky or out of place.

Refined without being fussy. Practical without looking technical.

The Durable Layer:
Long Days & Variable Conditions

Ridge Merino

Performance-oriented merino built for movement, changing weather, and long days outside.

I reach for this layer when the journey includes distilleries, vineyards, or shoulder-season travel.

The Foundation: Comfortable Base Layers

WoolX

Soft, breathable merino pieces that form the foundation of long, comfortable travel days.

This is the layer I rely on for flights, walking-heavy itineraries, and early starts that turn into late dinners.

The Finishing Layer:
All-Day Comfort

Darn Tough

Merino socks designed for comfort, durability, and long days on your feet.

When travel involves markets, tastings, and walking-heavy days, this is a small detail that makes a big difference.
